If this is your introductory lesson — read on
Your introductory lesson is a chance for Michael to get to know you, hear what you’re working toward, and give you real, useful feedback from the very first session. Here’s how to prepare based on your focus area:
🎭 If you’re focusing on Acting
Come with something to read — a monologue, a scene, or sides from a show or film you love. If you don’t have anything, we’ve put together a few short pieces you can use.

Come ready to sing something — a cappella, with a backing track, or with a recording on your phone. Choose a song you feel comfortable with. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Michael just wants to hear you.
🎭🎤 If you’re focusing on Musical Theater
Bring a song and if possible a short monologue or piece of dialogue. A 16-bar cut of a song works great. Come with something that feels like you — not just something you think sounds impressive.
🎓 If you’re preparing for a college conservatory audition
Bring your audition materials if you have them. If not, come with a list of programs you’re targeting and any questions you have. Michael will help you figure out exactly what you need.
💭 If you’re not sure what to bring
Just come as you are. The introductory lesson is as much about conversation as it is about performance. Michael will guide the session and figure out together with you what you need most.
No preparation is required — but the more you bring, the more Michael can give you in return.

Make sure Zoom is installed
Download Zoom at zoom.us/download if you haven’t already. Test your camera and microphone before your session.
Find a quiet space
Choose a quiet room with good lighting where you can focus and be heard clearly. Have any sheet music or materials ready if applicable.
Show up ready to work
Michael will be there at your scheduled time. Come with your goals and questions ready — every minute of your session counts.
